The R1 European Cycle Route is a whopping 5,100 kilometres long and runs from London to Moscow through ten countries and four time zones. On its section through Germany, it is also labelled D-Route 3 – and we have chosen a section of it: From Vreden on the Dutch border to Detmold on the edge of the Teutoburg Forest.
